There are those who state that winter is the best time of the year to visit Buenos Aires. They may be fans of chocolate con churros (hot chocolate and churros), a classic porteño treat. One of the most traditional chocolates of the city is served at La Giralda (Av. Corrientes 1453), in the bookshops and movie theaters area. Another famous hot chocolate is that of Café Tortoni’s (Av. de Mayo 825), a place declared Cultural Site by the government of Buenos Aires that functions in a huge art nouveau room. Its cellar has been visited by important personalities of tango and literature, like Carlos Gardel, Federico García Lorca and Luigi Pirandello.
