Being a champion is one of those dreams and expectations we have when we are children. A champion of almost anything and for that purpose, if necessary, we can create a game in order to be the only winners. However, we are not children for ever, and when we grow up, we suddenly realize: What can be better for a Porteño than being a Tango Champion?
Among the thousands of songs dedicated to cities around the world, some, by decision of the crowds we call “popular taste”, become symbols of the places they are singing and, thusly, in part of their culture.
The story is simple: Sophie Guillouche (Paris, 1974) always loved dancing. When she worked as a nurse, rock ’n‘ roll helped her to relieve the habitual hardness of her job. In 2001, she knew the tango and became so enthusiastic for it that three years after she visited Buenos Aires. The day she arrived, she went to Porteño y bailarín, a famous milonga, where she was invited to the dance floor by a porteño who was learning to tango.
